Will I have sensitivity in the new phallus?
The goal of the microsurgical technique is to connect the nerves from the donor site with the local nerves. Although nerve recovery is slow, most patients develop tactile and, in many cases, erogenous sensitivity over time.
Can I urinate standing up with a simple phalloplasty?
In the “simple” version, the urethra is not usually extended to the tip of the phallus. However, this procedure prepares the anatomy for a urethroplasty in a future phase if that is your wish.
What happens to the area where the tissue is taken from (donor site)?
The donor site (arm or thigh) will have a permanent scar. In Zaragoza, we use skin graft techniques so that the recovery of that area is as aesthetic and functional as possible.
Is it compatible with erectile prostheses?
Yes. Once the phallus has healed and sensitivity has settled (generally after a year), the implantation of prostheses that allow for penetration can be considered.
