Subcutaneous Mastectomy

Your torso, your freedom

What is
Subcutaneous Mastectomy?

Subcutaneous mastectomy, commonly known as male chest surgery, involves the removal of mammary glandular tissue and excess fat to create a flat, firm pectoral contour. Unlike an oncological mastectomy, this procedure is an aesthetic and functional reconstruction: we aim to position the nipple and areola in an anatomically masculine location and reduce their size if necessary.

At our clinic in Zaragoza, we customize the technique (periareolar, double incision, or inverted-T technique) according to your existing volume and skin elasticity, ensuring the result is a harmonious chest that allows you to move with freedom and confidence.

Masculinizing mastectomy techniques

The appropriate technique depends on your existing breast volume and skin elasticity. During your consultation in Zaragoza, we assess your case and select the approach that provides the most natural result.
Periareolar
Indicated for low-volume chests with good elasticity. Incisions are made around the areola, leaving minimal, barely visible scars and preserving much of the sensation.
Double incision with nipple graft
This is the reference technique when there is greater volume or less elasticity. It allows for the removal of more tissue and skin, and repositions the nipple-areola complex in a masculine location via grafting.
Inverted-T (or L) technique
An intermediate option for cases where skin removal is advisable without resorting to full double incision. It is assessed individually according to anatomy.

Your journey toward a male chest

01

Technique assessment

During the consultation in Zaragoza, we evaluate your anatomy to decide whether to use minimal incisions (around the areola) or complete remodeling (double incision).

02

Surgical Procedure

The surgery is performed under general anesthesia and lasts, in most cases, between 1 and 2 hours. We remove the tissue and reposition the nipple-areola complex for a natural appearance.

03

Initial Care

After surgery, you will wear a compression dressing that helps the skin adapt to its new shape and minimizes swelling.

04

Result Maturation

During the first months, the scars will gradually soften and the pectoral area will develop its definitive masculine shape.

Frequently asked questions

At our clinic in Zaragoza, we not only address your medical concerns, but we also support you emotionally at every stage. Your safety and your identity are our priority.

Will I lose sensation in my nipples?

It depends on the technique. With the periareolar technique, much of the sensation is usually preserved. With double incision with grafting, erogenous sensation typically disappears, although sensation to touch and temperature recovers over time.

You can walk from the next day. However, for exercises involving the pectoral area or raising your arms above your head, we recommend waiting 6 to 8 weeks to prevent the scars from widening.

It is not a mandatory medical requirement, but many surgeons recommend being on hormones for a few months so that the pectoral muscle is more developed, which serves as a “guide” for a more aesthetic result.

Scarring depends on each person’s genetics, but in Zaragoza we will provide you with a strict protocol for sun protection and specific creams so that, over time, the marks integrate with the pectoral fold.

From 16 years of age, always with the consent of parents or legal guardians. In all cases, the indication is assessed individually during consultation, taking into account each person’s situation.
